OrderPaperToday – Following the controversies trailing the emergence of Mr. Mudashiru Hussein as candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Osun west senatorial re-rerun election, the party has denied reports that its National Chairman, John Oyegun, influenced the outcome.
Reports had it that Hussein was previously disqualified in line with the constitution of the party law which forbids an aspirant seeking public office on its platform to remain in public service within 30 days preceding the date of the election.
But that the National Working Committee (NWC) made a volte farce and cleared Hussein allegedly on the influence of Oyegun who compromised the screening and appeal panel’s reports.
The APC however reacted to the reports in press release issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, asking the public to disregard the reports as they are not true accounts of what transpired.
The statement read: “At no time did the Party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun say any of those statements that were attributed to him in the report. The NWC takes full responsibility for the decision it took on the matter and will not seek to transfer this responsibility to anyone else outside the national executive of the party.
“Allegations that the NWC was pressured to act in the manner that it did should therefore be disregarded.”
