OrderPaperToday – Both chambers of the National Assembly on Thursday adjourned plenary till July 4th.
Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Abdulrazak Namdas made this known to newsmen at a media briefing shortly after plenary.
“The House had to go on two weeks break which will cover the Sallah break and return on 4th of July to continue with the legislative business”, said Namdas.
Earlier at his briefing, the House spokesman explained that due to the spate of attacks and kidnapping in the country, the House of Representatives invited the service chiefs to give detailed explanation on how it can be contained.
He said after which members became satisfied.
According to him, the service chiefs admitted that they have some challenges and that “the House also made it a duty that it’s not just one meeting with the service chiefs that will proffer solution to the spate of kidnapping.
“We want to make it continuous and if there’s need for us to call them back we’ll do so to ensure that the spate of kidnapping in the country is reduced to the barest minimum. We’re very concerned about that.”
