Senate approves N230bn expenditure for FIRS, NDIC, NIWA,NPA

OrderPaperToday – The Senate has approved the 2017 budgets for Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and National Ports Authority (NPA).

As presented by the different chairmen of the senate committees of Finance, Banking and Insurance and Marine Transport on Tuesday, the breakdown of the approved funds is as follow; the sum of N146, 897, 252, 696 for FIRS, N77,850,000,000 for NDIC, N2,500,000,000 for NIWA and N2,820,249,243 for NPA.

The President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki urged MDAs to henceforth make sure their revenue must exceed their expenditure.

The following were stepped down; Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in order to be considered holistically, National Insurance Commission, Sugar Development Council.

The red chamber mandated that National Automotive Design and Development Council to stop expenditure and appear before the committee of industries owing to several complexities in the report.

Industrial Training Fund was also told to appear before the committee of Industries and ensure there is an increase of over 50% in their current expenditure.
