Abide by our resolutions on kidnapping – Kwara Assembly tells Police

OrderPaperToday – The Kwara State House of Assembly has called on the State Commissioner of Police to address the people of the state on the ceaseless cases of kidnapping, in line with an earlier resolution of the House.

The call was made following a matter of urgent public importance on widespread cases of kidnapping in the state, raised by a member representing Okuta/Yashikira Constituency, Mr. Adamu Usman.

Mr. Usman said that another three cases of kidnapping had been reported within the last few days in the state and emphasized the need for the security agencies, to address the people of the state, on efforts at curbing the trend.

The Speaker, Ali Ahmad, while commenting on the matter stressed that “peace is wealth” and explained that it had become imperative for the police to address and reassure the people of their safety, noting that many citizens had become apprehensive of the fear of the unknown.

The state legislature equally enjoined the State Commissioner of Police to intensify efforts at rescuing victims in Chikanda, Osi and Tanke in Baruteen, Ekiti and Ilorin South Local Government Areas respectively.

The House also appealed to religious leaders to sensitize their followers on the non-desirability of kidnapping and other social vices, in order to stem the tide of moral bankruptcy pervading the society.

Recall that the House had in a similar move last week, among other things, called on the security agencies to come up with strategies of curbing the menace in the state.
