Abuja councillor-elect to APC: Why Alimikhena should be deputy senate president

OrderPaperToday – Councillor-elect of Wuse ward of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mathias Aliu, has appealed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to endorse Senator Francis Alimikhena for the position of Deputy Senate President.

According to Aliu, the South-South region will be cheated if Alimikhena does not occupy the seat.

Alimikhena who is the incumbent deputy majority whip of the senate, represents Edo north and was relected into the 9th assembly.

In a statement on Friday, Aliu stated that the Senator is in a position to promote the party’s agenda in the southern part of the country because of his influence and being a performing senator.

He said: “The south, particularly Edo state will be cheated if the party does not endorse Sen, Francis Alimikhena for the position of deputy senate president.

“His track records speaks for him, he is one senator who has proven integrity and good leadership skills.

“The ninth national assembly needs what Alimikhena has to offer and that is why I call on our party chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and other party leaders, to consider my humble appeal.”

The councillor-elect also urged the incoming Senators to “do the needful.”

He added: “Nigeria needs to progress and the only way we can is by electing competent leaders.

“I am sure with a Deputy Senate president like Alimikhena Nigerians would be excited at the caliber of leaders in the 9th Assembly

“We only have one country and we should strive to make it better.”
