Adeleke arraigned in court, granted bail

OrderPaperToday– Senator Ademola Adeleke (PDP, Osun) has been arraigned before the Abuja Federal High Court for alleged examination malpractice.

Adeleke was arraigned today on a four-count charge alongside four other people. The others are Aregbesola Mufutau, principal of the school, Gbadamosi Thomas Ojo, the registrar, and Dare Olutope, a teacher.

Recall that the police accused the lawmaker, who was the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), of impersonation a few days before the polls in September. He was asked by the police to report to the force headquarters in Abuja for “immediate” arraignment in court. He, however, obtained a court injunction restraining the police from arresting him.

Appearing in court today, Adeleke pleaded “not guilty” to the charge brought against him. The Judge, IE Ekwo, then granted him bail on self-recognition.

In the end, the Senator was asked to submit his international passport to the court registrar and sign an agreement that he will present himself for trial.
