OrderPaperToday – The All Progressive Congress (APC) caucus of the House of Representatives has condemned the blockage National Assembly complex by men of the Department of State Service (DSS).
The position of the House members differs from that of the party national headquarters which issued two statements on the invasion with the first condemning it and the latter hailing the move as a preemptive step by security agencies.
The APC caucus in a statement issued by the Leader of the caucus and majority leader of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila condemned the Tuesday invasion.
The statement while condemning the assault, noted that the caucus would refrain from making further comment until a proper investigation has been conducted.
He said: “The siege of the National Assembly by DSS operatives must be condemned by men and women of goodwill. We must however tarry a while until investigations are completed and facts of what actually happened emerge.
“We must act responsibly and no one must be allowed to bring down our hard earned democracy.”
The caucus also commended the Presidency for the swift response.
“The Presidency has done what need to be done, at a time like this” adding that “APC caucus will make a full statement in a couple of days by which time it would have been seized of all facts.”
