OrderPaperToday – The raging battle within the All Progressives Congress (APC) is getting to a crescendo as the party has set up a disciplinary committee to investigate the its vice chairman (North), Sen Lawal Shuaibu over his call on chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, to resign.
The party according to a press statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Isa-Onilu, stated that it resolved to set up the five member panel to be headed by the former governor of Ekiti State, Niyi Adebayo, to unravel the truth in the allegations raised against Oshiomhole.
The statement was drawn from resolutions reached at the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting of the APC which also passed a vote of confidence on Mr. Oshiomhole.
The decision followed series of meetings held on the 27thand 28th of May, and 6th of June, the statement said.
The disciplinary committee will investigate “the allegation leveled by Sen. Lawal Shuaibu against the National Chairman on issues involving the collective decisions of the National Working Committee.
“The instigation of Senators/Members of the House of Representatives by Senator Lawal Shuaibu against the decision of the Party on the choice of the Presiding Officers for both chambers (Senate and the House of Representatives) at the banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, even when these issues were all discussed and agreed by all members of the National Working Committee (NWC).
“Sen. Lawal Shuaibu’s action was particularly embarrassing by moving around the Senators/Members of the House of Representatives to revolt while Mr. President was making his concluding remarks on the need for APC to present one candidate to avoid a divided house.”
The committee is mandated to submit its report to the NWC within 7 days from Thursday. June 6, 2019.
