OrderPaperToday – The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the judgment of a High Court in Rivers State that barred the party from participating in the forthcoming election.

The objection was raised by aggrieved members of the party but the apex court on Tuesday ruled that “the appeal is struck out”.

The court informed that the reasons for striking out the appeal would be communicated to the aggrieved person on a later date.

For the gubernatorial election, the APC Rivers factions had produced Messrs Tonye Cole and Magnus Abe as candidates.

But the National Secretariat in Abuja chose Cole which resulted into several legal cases.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) also did not list candidates for the state.
