OrderPaperToday – The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has appointed the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekeremadu, as his technical advisers.
Atiku also appointed the former governors of Jigawa and Kaduna states, Sule Lamido and Ahmed Makarfi respectively as technical advisers also.
The announcement is contained in a press statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan on Monday.
According to the statement, “The PDP also named Mallam Sule Lamido as the Chairman of Elder’s Council for the campaign.
“Alhaji Kawu Baraje has been appointed as Technical Adviser to the Director General of the Campaign, Senator Bukola Saraki, while Dr. Doyin Okupe is named the Media Adviser to the Director General.”
Ekweremadu’s appointment is coming against the background of reports of his disaffection with the presidential campaign having been by-passed by Atiku in the choice of a running mate.
The reports gained credence when the senate presiding officer has been conspicuously absent from much of the presidential rallies of the party across the country.
It was widely speculated that the Deputy President of the Senate was on his way out of the party, a report he denied just this morning on social media.
