OrderPaperToday – Mr. Kayode Ajulo of the Forward With Buhari (FWB) group has said reported demands by the People Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Mr. Atiku Abubakar, for conceding defeat is a nullity.
Mr. Abubakar had reportedly tabled a six-point condition for before he could concede to his opponent, President Muhamadu Buhari who was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the just concluded presidential election.
Speaking to OrderPaperNG on telephone, Mr. Ajulo said: “Atiku lacks the local base to contest the just concluded presidential election as declared by Independent National Electoral Commission. Mind you my law firm has a case in court against Atiku which has already come up for hearing on the eligibility for him to have even contested the election because he is not a Nigerian.
“Secondly, Atiku’s demands does not hold water because he is coming from a weaker position and therefore lack the powers to make such demands. In a presidential system of government its a winner takes all, a loser does not give a winner conditions otherwise there’ll be a threat to the civil society.”
He continued: “Another point is that such negotiations can also be considered if the elections were said to be not credible. In this scenario, both the local and international observers have commended INEC for a credible and peaceful polls. So as of now there’s no room for resolutions till elections are over.”
