BILLSBOARD: Ekiti, Bauchi, Edo states to get colleges of education

OrderPaperToday – The Senate has passed bills to establish Federal Colleges of Education in Ekiti, Bauchi and Edo States for their second reading.

The bills were sponsored by Sen. Biodun Olujimi (PDP, Ekiti), Sen. Isa Misau (APC, Bauchi) and Sen. Clifford Ordia, respectively.

Leading the debate on the bill, Sen. Misau noted that although his State has the highest number of primary and junior secondary schools in the Northeast, the State still has the lowest percentage of qualified teachers to teach in these schools.

Additionally, the only federal institution in the Bauchi Central senatorial district is the Navy Secondary School, which is still not functioning.

The estimate for the project execution is over N2billion in total.

Meanwhile, in her debate, Sen. Olujimi noted that there has been an educational neglect in the Omuo-Ekiti senatorial district.

The sum of over N1billion was estimated for the project execution.
