BREAKING: Staff protest, lock down National Assembly as sitting is stalled

OrderPaperToday – The National Assembly is currently on lock down due to a crippling protest action by workers. This has led to the members of the Senate and House of Representatives being unable to gain access to the chambers and sit for plenary thus far.

As at the time of filing this report, senators and members of the House are being prevented from convening by the protesting workers whose umbrella, the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), issued a strike notice last week.

Attempts by Chief Whip of the House, Alhassan Doguwa, to pacify the workers were rebuffed by the angry staff members who are chanting solidarity songs and calling for the sack of the Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Mr. Sani Omolori, among other demands.
