Budget 2016: Senate Commences Harmonisation, to Remove Errors, Paddings

OrderPaperToday – In a bid to meet its new deadline of passing the budget before the end of March, the Senate Appropriation Committee has begun harmonization of budget reports of various sub committees.

Chairman of the Appropriation Committee Danjuma Goje who met with Chairmen of the various committees today, stressed that the harmonization would ensure all errors and discrepancies were corrected.

He promised that the committee would sit for one week and round up its report which would be submitted to the Senate next week.

“The appropriation committee is ready now to start receiving this report and we have one week to conclude this assignment, so this committee will sit from 10 in the morning till six in the evening.

“We will conclude this sitting on Monday 29 of February. We will look through the report thoroughly to ensure that all errors, duplications and paddings contained in that budget will be detected by us.

“So we are going to do a thorough job to ensure that at the end of the day we will produce a clean, clear and implementable budget that will go a long way in actualizing the vision of the present administration.

“We want to assure you that despite the controversies surrounding this budget we are going to produce a budget that will benefit this country,” he said.
