OrderPaperToday – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has revealed that the current 8th Assembly passed 382 bills but that President Muhammadu Buhari only signed 76 of them.
The Speaker made the disclosure during the House valedictory session for the 8th Assembly held on Thursday.
Several members of the House who spoke during the session praised the 8th Assembly as the most successful assembly ever.
The Speaker who spoke last during the session noted that the Assembly achieved the feat despite the “persecution of its members.”
Dogara also slammed hired hands who “pose as analysts” to smear the National Assembly, describing them as “ignorant lot” who have no idea on how the parliament works.
The former Chairman of committee on Rules and Business, Oker Jev in his speech accused President Muhamadu Buhari of using flippant excuses to reject bills.
He said that the President still reject such bills despite the National Assembly yielding to observations and concerns of the President.
