Buhari’s aide in fresh forgery scandal

OrderPaperToday – The House of Representatives adhoc committee investigating the activities of the Special Presidential Investigative Panel (SPIP) on the Recovery of Public Properties has summoned its chairman, Mr. Okoi Obono-Obla, over alleged forgery of presidency letter-head papers.
Mr. Obono-Obla is expected to appear before the Committee on the 5th of June, 2018 alongside the management of the University of Jos and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
The committee chairman, Mr. Ahmad Pategi (APC, Kwara) claimed that facts before him authoritatively reveals that Obono-Obla has  being using different letter-head papers to write to various countries on behalf of the SPIP, thereby making mockery of the government and the anti-corruption war.
Mr. Pategi said this during the hearing of the committee on Thursday at the National Assembly where both the representative of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Jummai Idakwo, and the Secretary of the SPIP,  Akingbolahan Adeniran, confirmed that the Letter-head papers which Obono-Obla uses are not the same.
Two copies of letter-head papers allegedly used by Obla in his correspondence with the panel and other agencies show that one bears “Special Presidential Investigative Panel”, while the other bears “Presidency: Special Presidential Investigative Panel”.
However, Mr. Adeniran told the committee that the authentic letter-head of the Panel is the one with “Special Presidential Investigative Panel.”
The Committee therefore called on the general public to be cautious of the activities of the SPIP chairman and instructed its clerk to commence the issuance of a warrant of arrest on him if he fails to appear at the next meeting on the 5th of June.
This is the fourth time Obono-Obla has refused to appear before the Committee to give answers on the legality of the Panel and its mode of operations.
