OrderPaperToday– A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in the Bwari area of Abuja on Friday sacked Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) over certificate forgery.
Senator Ubah, who was representing Anambra South district in the Senate, lost the appeal to rescind the court judgement that nullified his election into the National Assembly.
It would be recalled that the court in April 11, 2019, directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to Ubah following an alleged use of a forged National Examination Council (NECO) certificate to contest the senatorial election that held in the state on February 23, 2019.
Ubah thereafter approached the court to set aside the ruling, noting that he was neither served with the court processes nor hearing notice with respect to the suit up till the the matter was ruled.
The judge in charge of the case, Justice Bello Kawu, re-affirmed its earlier order while asking INEC to issue Obinna Uzoh of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who came second in the poll, the certificate of return for the senatorial seat.
