OrderPaperToday – In view of fresh charges filed by the Police, a federal high court in Abuja has granted bail to Senator Dino Melaye.
The new nine charges border on resistance to arrest when the force laid siege to his residence for eight days few weeks ago.
Melaye who is currently in the medical facility of the DSS was on last Friday granted bail over the case of alleged gun running and homicide yet, after reportedly meeting his bail conditions, was not released by the Police.
The matter was heard on Tuesday and Melaye was present at the court and pleaded not guilty.
The judge, Justice Yusuf Halilu in his judgement instructed that the Senator’s health be attended to and refused to allow him arraigned on a stretcher.
On this basis, the Kogi West Senator was granted the previous bail condition which include three sureties, of which two must show evidence of landed property in Abuja.
Also, the clerk of the National Assembly, must do a letter to the court that the applicant must be produced in court when he is required.
Halilu told Mr Melaye not travel abroad unless with a written approval.
