OrderPaperToday– In view of growing concerns over the rising incidence of COVID -19 in the country, the management of the National Assembly (NASS) has directed all staff of the Assembly, including legislative aides, to remain at home for the next two weeks.

In a circular signed by the clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Ataba Sani-Omolori, legislators and staff of the assembly were encouraged to adhere to professional advice from the Ministry of Health and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

According to him, “Unlike the directive given to federal government workers which exempted officers above level 12 from the stay at home order, all staff, only clerks of both chambers, directors and heads of departments, are expected to show up at work in the National Assembly.”

Similarly, the directive made it clear that all banks and other businesses within the complex are also to be closed for the period.
