Dogara formalizes defection from APC as Reps adjourns for elections

OrderPaperToday – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara has officially announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He made the announcement on the floor of the House shortly before the green chamber adjourned plenary till February 19, 2019 to enable members participate in the general elections commencing in few weeks.
Dogara had last year exited the APC, the platform on which he got elected in 2015,  when he got the nomination of the PDP to return to the House after he had stayed away from the APC primaries in Bauchi State,
The speaker was however not the only member who announced his defection to another party.
Among others who announced their defection from the APC to the PDP were Mr. Edward Pwajok of Plateau State and Mr. Ahmed Yerima of Bauchi State.
In separate letters read on the floor, Speaker Dogara and Mr.Yerima said their decisions to defect was based on the lack of confidence their constituents have in the ruling party.
For Pwajok, his defection back to the PDP was because it was clear there was no crisis in the party before his defection hence the need to rescind his decision to return to the party.
After the excitement which , came a move for an adjournment of plenary till 19th February which was then approved by all.
