OrderPaperToday – The economy is hanging in the balance as debate on the 2019 budget has been shelved in the senate till after the 2019 elections.
President Muhammadu Buhari had submitted the N8.83 trillion appropriation bill to the federal chambers since 19th of December.
A week after the resumption from the yuletide break, the green chamber commenced deliberations on the bill.
But in the red chamber, the item was never featured on the order paper up till their adjournment today.
The Former Senate Leader, Ali Ndume (APC, Borno), on Wednesday accused President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki and other PDP leaders of the senate of being behind the delay in considering the appropriation bill.
Now that the senate has gone on recess, Nigerians will have to wait till after the presidential and national assembly polls for the deliberations on the budget to take place.
