OrderPaperToday – A group, APC Youth Circle (APCYC) Enugu West Senatorial District has vowed that Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu will “retire” next year as the zone would not support his return to the Senate in 2019.

In a statement released in Enugu on Thursday by its General Coordinator, Geofrey Eze, APCYC, Enugu West senatorial district declared it will back the Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Osita Okechukwu to replace Ekweremadu in the red chamber.

Eze noted that unlike Ekweremadu who was fond of purchasing motorcycles for youths, Okechukwu would revamp the abundant coal deposits in Enugu State which will in turn create massive employments for the youths. He added that the VON boss is a “Buharist” who will key into Roads, Rails and Agriculture projects of the President for the benefit of the zone.

Speaking further, Eze hailed Okechukwu for influencing appointments: “Osita Okechukwu with his antecedents will give selfless service to the good people of Enugu West Senatorial District. He will unite the zone which has been divided by Senator Ekweremadu’s divide and rule tactics.

“The appointments Okechukwu influenced so far in the district went to Awgu – Mr. Titus Okolo, Commissioner ICPC, Oji River – Polycap Udah – member Board Ministry of Federal Capital Territory, Udenu, Major General Chris Eze – Ambasador to India, Igboeze North, Barister Bath Ugwoke – Member Board of Voice of Nigeria, Isiuzo-Hon. Ejike Eze, Member National Population Commission and Nkanu West – Nonye Okoro, Board Member, Federal Medical Centre.”

The group however thanked Deputy Senate President Ekweremadu but insisted he must leave the red chamber after the 2019 elections, saying: “In sum, we thank Distinguished Senator Ike Ekweremadu and wish him a successful retirement from the Senate. Enough is Enough.”
