Fuel Scarcity: Senate to grill Kachikwu, Baru on January 4

OrderPaperToday – The Senate has said it will hold a public hearing to address the petrol supply shortage that has brought hardship to Nigerians in the last couple of weeks.

In this regard, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr. Maikanti Baru are to appear before the Senate the Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) on January 4, 2018.

A statement from the Office of the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, said the Committee has been mandated to cut short its recess and join in efforts to resolve the protracted fuel scarcity ravaging the country.

Recall that the Committee led by Sen. Kabir Marafa (APC, Zamfara) on December 5 after an investigative hearing stated that it would commence a nationwide inspection of filling stations.  There was nothing heard of that announcement however.
