OrderPaperToday – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has denied any disagreement with the director general of his campaign organization, Abdulmumumi Jibrin.
He said Jibrin was not excluded from the composition leadership of committees of the House but rather declined to serve at that level.
There have been several media reports indicating that the Kano Rep was excluded in the composition of committees announced on Thursday.
But the speaker on Friday in a tweet revealed the true situation of things.
He said Jibrin had wanted to exit the legislative arm to seek a fresh challenge in either the executive arm of government or proceed on an academic pursuit.
It would be recalled that Jibrin in a post shortly after his victory at the poll announced that this would be his last contest for the House of Representatives.
The Speaker tweeted, “Jibrin is now fully ready to perform its legislative duty. Let me clarify that was not excluded from the leadership composition. He was involved in the composition process and declined accepting any committee leadership.
“Jibrin had, repeatedly, made clear his intention to leave. My persuasions and that of some other leaders convinced him, reluctantly, to stay a bit longer.
“He wants a fresh challenge and his preference will be to return to the university and pursue his professorial ambition, face his private business or serve in the executive arm of public service.
“I have no doubt, whatever he decides, he will be of immense value. He has had a meritorious career in in NASS over the last decade.”
