OrderPaperToday – Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor-Kalu has boasted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win the Abia north senatorial seat if the election is done 20 times.
He said in reaction to the verdict of the election tribunal in the state which ordered a rerun in some polling units within the senatorial district in response to a petition filed by Senator Mao Ohaubunwa of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Uzor-Kalu clarified that his seat was not declared vacant but the tribunal only sought rerun in few contentious polling units.
He made this known when some APC stakeholders paid the him a courtesy visit on Thursday in Abuja to express solidarity ahead of the rerun election.
The Senator said: “In Abia North we are not losing sleep. We can do that election 20 times: Buhari our president; the senatorial district, my seat is intact. We will always win it. It is a fundamental error that they made to call for supplementary election in some polling units.
“This is the beginning. We will do our best to sustain the influence of APC in my zone. I also want to thank the senate president and colleagues in the senate for their solidarity. We are ready for election any day anytime.”
The Chairman of APC in the state, Donatus Nwakpa on his part described the tribunal’s verdict as a “failure” that “will not stand the litmus test of an appellate court.”
The Minister of Mines and Steel development, Uchechukwu Ogar in his remarks assured APC members in Abia state not worry over the judgment of the tribunal.
