OrderPaperToday– President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has congratulated Senator Hope Uzodinma and the All Progressives Congress (APC) on their victory at the Supreme Court.
The Apex court on Tuesday declared the latter winner of the Imo State gubernatorial election in which Emeka Ihedioha, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was declared winner in March 19, 2019.
Reacting to the Court’s judgement, Lawan also a member of the APC, in a press statement signed by his special adviser on Media and Publicity, Ola Awoniyi, celebrated his party’s win and for “peacefully retrieving its mandate through the constitutionally stipulated judicial process.”
According to the president of the Red Chamber, the judgement has “cleared any doubt on the victory of the APC in the election.
“This is a victory for democracy, the rule of law, the All Progressives Congress and the good people of Imo State.
“The new governor-elect should be magnanimous in victory and see his mandate as a call to serve his people conscientiously and to the best of his ability,” Lawan added.
He wished Uzodinma a successful tenure in office and praised the Nigerian judiciary for “reasserting itself as a sacred chapel for judicious resolution of disputes.”
