OrderPaperToday– Lawmakers from Imo State have expressed joy over the Supreme Court verdict that declared Sen. Hope Uzodinma as the governor of the state.
Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Mr. Benjamin Kalu (APC, Imo), in a press release personally signed by him, congratulated the people of Imo State and enjoined them to fasten their seat-belts as they focus on benefitting immensely from the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration in the state.
“I heartily congratulate Senator Hope Uzodinma on his affirmation by the Supreme Court as the Imo State governor-elect and celebrate with the people of Imo as they prepare to enjoy the dividends of focused and efficient leadership. This peaceful resolution of the various gubernatorial aspirations by the judiciary is indeed testament to the growth of our democracy.
” I urge the governor-elect to remember that while the hopes and future of Imo State now depends on his vision, it is a burden that demands the joint effort of all Imolites irrespective of political and other affiliations.
“I wish the governor-elect a successful tenure in office,” he stated.
Similarly, a former lawmaker and chieftain of the APC, Mr. Nnnana Rapheal Igbokwe, who represented Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihitte Mbaise federal Constituency of Imo State in the House of Representatives, has urged Imolites to cooperate with the new government in the state led by Senator Hope Uzodinma.
Igbokwe, who is also the special assistant on Legislative Matters to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, spoke to OrderPaper through a telephone conversation.
He applauded the judiciary for standing on the part of truth, saying, “It is the best thing that has happened to Imo State and I wish to commend the judiciary for standing on the side of Justice and truth. With the ship being steered by an experienced public officer and an accomplished businessman,  Imo people will be greeted with enhanced infrastructural development, quality education and health care, supportive business climate and aggressive human capital development and poverty eradication.
“Also, the stable political environment which was evident on the day the judgment was delivered indicates acceptability.
“I, therefore, urge Imolites to co-operate and support the APC led government of Senator Hope Uzodinma to enable the new government take Imo to the next level”, he appealed.
