OrderPaperToday – President Muhammadu Buhari will present the 2021 Appropriations Bill at a Joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday.
This announcement was made following a letter read from him by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan on Tuesday.
The letter reads: “May I crave the kind indulgence of the Distinguished Senate to grant me the slot of 11:00hrs on Thursday, 8th October, 2020, to formally present the 2021 Appropriation bill to the Joint Session of the National Assembly.
“While I look forward to addressing the Joint session, please, accept Mr. Senate President, the assurances of my highest regard.”
The sum of N12.6trillion was proposed by the Executive as aggregate expenditure for the 2021 fiscal year.
This was contained in the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP) presented to the Federal parliament presented in July 23, 2020.
However last week the House of Representatives approved N13.08trillion as expenditure for the 2021 budget while passing the MTEF/FSP.
