OrderPaperToday – The House of Representatives has slated Tuesday, April 28, 2020 for resumption from recess.
A notice sent out to members this evening and seen by OrderPaperNG indicated that the House would be guided by “Covid-19 Guidelines approved by the Federal Government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and additional Guidelines developed by the House.”
The notice signed by the Clerk of the House of Representatives, Patrick A. Giwa, however said aides of the legislators and ‘staff’ are to keep away from work until later.
The notice reads: “This is to inform all Members of the House of Representatives that the House will now resume plenary session on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at 10.am.
“Members are advised to take note of the new date of resumption, please.
“The Covid-19 Guidelines approved by the Federal Government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and additional Guidelines developed by the House will be sent to Members’ pigeon holes for collection on resumption.
“Staff and Members’ Aides are to work from home and will be notified when needed in the office for any special assignment.”
Recall that the House proceeded on recess on March 24, 2020 in view of the pandemic.
There have been concerns over the shut down of parliament at a time lots of Covid-19 interventions are ongoing, many of which require consideration and approval of the National Assembly.
