He said: “I congratulate the newly elected chairman of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum, Dr. Kayode Fayemi. It is indeed well deserving. He is a good man and he has got lots of experience so I believe with him on board the country would witness a lot of development.
“To the best of my knowledge, while he served as Minister of Mines and Steel Development he performed very well. Even as governor of Ekiti State then, he did well because he is a person with the interest of the people at heart.”
On his part, Mr. Kayode Ajulo, a season lawyer and politician also congratulated Mr. Fayemi for emerging victorious in the election.
“Hearty congratulations to the amiable governor of Ekiti State on his election as the Chairman of Governors forum,” he said, adding:
“Dr. Kayode Fayemi has been a great comrade of the nation since the days of June 12 saga. He is also an advocate of democracy and you will agree with me that his excellency has been an active politician.
“If you would recall, while he was in office as the Minister of Mines and Steel Development under the Buhari Administration, he recorded great achievements in repositioning the Nigerian Mining sector and contributed optimally to the administration’s priority agenda of diversifying the country’s revenue base.
“His monumental achievement during his first term as governor of Ekiti State is also unprecedented. Within his first 100 days in office he put the state in the limelight with an increase the GDP of the State. The World Bank’s ‘Ease of Doing Business’ report put Ekiti State among the five leading states that had made remarkable progress on all indices of doing business with ease.
“Finally, His Excellency’s experience as a seasoned politician, leader and diplomat is not in doubt.”
Mr. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti (APC) emerged Chairman of NGF while his counterpart from Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal (PDP) emerged as Vice Chairman through consensus and both men would be chairing the forum for the next four years.
