OrderPaperToday – Today’s invasion of the National Assembly by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) unveiled Boma Goodhead, a female member of the House of Representatives, as a tough activist who is unafraid of the nuzzle of the gun.
Boma was the legislator who stood, chest-out, before the masked gun-wielding DSS agents demanding that she and her colleagues be allowed into the National Assembly, while daring the operatives to shoot. The video of that encounter has since gone viral but, who is Boma exactly?
She is a legislator from Rivers State under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Born to a former High Court Judge, Boma is 47 years old and a graduate of the University of Port Harcourt in Rivers State.
Her membership of the House is her first public office, however, she is widely known as the political protégé of the PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus, and a loyal ally of Governor Nyesom Wike.
It is worthy to note that Boma is Asari Dokubo’s sister and Mr. Asari is a notorious ex Niger Delta warlord and resource control agitator. She has co-sponsored several motions and bills and is the sole sponsor of the University of Port Harcourt Act (amendment bill), 2017).
Not known for legislative productivity, but she is very popular for being hot-blooded on the floor of the House. No wonder she dared the DSS agents to shoot her as she led other lawmakers to force their way into the complex.
