OrderPaperToday – The House of Representatives has adjourned plenary to 26 January 2021 after convening a special session to pass next year’s budget on Monday.
The House had planned on adjourning plenary since last week but later postponed to Monday which is not a traditional sitting day for the lawmakers at plenary.
The lawmakers had to sit on Monday in order to pass the 2021 Appropriation Bill so as to meet up with the dateline of maintaining the budget circle of January-December.
Recall that the 9th National Assembly upon inauguration promised Nigerians it would normalize the budget circle which had suffered disruptions due to delays in the budgetary process.
The House of Representatives just as the Senate has had a very bumpy year, majorly due to the coronavirus pandemic which is still ravaging countries across the globe.
However, the challenges so thrown up by the effect of Covid-19 has not deterred the current house to put in it best as bills, motions and resolutions have been passed to address the pandemic.
