OrderPaperToday – The National Assembly on Tuesday passed the 2019 budget.
The appropriation bill pegged at N8.83 trillion was laid in a joint session of the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari on the 19th December, 2018.
The passage of the budget was however stagnated owing to non-appearance of Ministries, Departments and Agencies before the senate standing committees and absence of Chairman, Senate committee on Appropriation and his deputy on another occasion.
The report of the Appropriations committee on the budget was presented by Senator Danjuma Goje (APC, Gombe).
It was deliberated in the committee on supply and it allowed for the increase of the budget to N8.916 trillion.
This increase includes the N10 billion intervention fund for Zamfara state to tackle the insecurity bedevilling the state.
After approving the budget, the red chamber adjourned for an hour to adopt the votes and proceedings of the day in a bid to have an immediate transmission of the budget to the executive arm for assent.
A similar exercise was also undertaken in the House of Representatives.

Statutory transfer (for national assembly, National Judicial Council (NJC) and Public Complaint Commission (PCC) among others – N502.58 .billion
Debt service (foreign and domestic) – N2.25 trillion
Recurrent expenditure – N4.65 trillion
Capital expenditure – N2.94 trillion
