OrderPaperToday – Tweets by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, have served as anchor for many Nigerians on Twitter to air their views on the possible impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Recall that on Wednesday, the House of Representatives passed a vote of no confidence on all service chiefs and heads of security agencies tasked with the sacred duty of protecting Nigerian lives. The House also called for their replacement.
This was done in response to the ceaseless killings ravaging states including Zamfara, Benue and Kaduna despite the President’s correspondence with the Senate where he declared he was working on rectifying the situation.
In a short thread on Twitter after plenary that Wednesday, the Speaker announced the resolutions of the House. Twitter users in Nigeria have been having a field day on that thread up until the time of filing this report.
This particular tweet -“We also resolved to summon the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, @NGRPresident @MBuhari in order to answer pertinent questions concerning what the Executive is doing to put a decisive end to the spate of killings in different states of the Federation” – by Dogara has received the most reactions.
In response, Nigerians began clamouring for the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari. Many expressed their dissatisfaction with the leader of the country and demanded that the National Assembly begin the process of impeaching the President as a way to end the rampant killings in the country and halt the ever-growing rate of insecurity in Nigeria.
