OrderPaperToday – The Chairman of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, Yakubu Oseni, will be inaugurated as senator to represent Kogi Central district after defeating the incumbent Senator Ahmed Ogembe in the February 23, 2019 national assembly polls.

According to the INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Patrick Audu, who announced the results at Okene, Oseni polled 76, 120 votes to defeat Miss Natasha Akpoti of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who scored 48,326 to come second in the election while the incumbent Senator Ahmed Ogembe of PDP polled 19, 359 to come third. Oseni flew the flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the elections.

Yakubu Oseni was born on the 15th of May, 1975 in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State. He attended the Roman Catholic Missionary (RCM)/Local School Management Board (LSMB) Primary School, Okene in 1982. He started his Junior Secondary School (JSS) pursuit at the Local Government Secondary School (LGSS), Upogoro. It was after that he preceded to Abdul Aziz Attah Memorial College, Okene (AAAMCO) for his Senior Secondary School (SSS).

He then gained admission into Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria to study Economics and bagged a degree certificate in the year 2001 and was awarded the best graduating Student in the Faculty of Social Science and best graduating Student in the Department of Economics. And in 2013, he became a Masters Degree Certificate holder in Economics from University of Abuja.

After his national youth service in 2003, Oseni got into banking until 2016 when he was appointed the Executive Chairman, Kogi State Board of Internal Revenue.
