OrderPaperToday – The House of Representatives resumed from its annual recess on Tuesday and straight-away started the implementation of a distinct change to its standing rules.
The Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, surprised the members who almost sat down after the prayer, when he launched into a recitation of the national pledge.
Perhaps the members had forgotten that the rules of the House had been amended.
The standing rule was amended before the House went on recess after the green Chamber adopted the recommendations of the ad-hoc committee chaired by Ihonvbere Julius (APC, Edo).
It would be recalled that the house also approved for the Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly to conduct election for principal officers of the House on the day of the inauguration.
