#NigeriaDecides: Reps adjourns again for gubernatorial elections

OrderPaperToday – The House of Representatives on Tuesday adjourned its sitting because it could not form a quorum.
The adjournment will last till 12th March to enable lawmakers participate in the upcoming gubernatorial elections across the country.
The plenary which kick-started at about 11:15am was presided over by Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara. It had in attendance the Deputy Speaker, Yussuff Lasun, Leader of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chairman Rules and Business, Edward Pwajok, amongst seven others.
Dogara had read out a communication from President Buhari shortly after the usual opening prayer stating reasons why he declined assent to the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Amendment Bill, 2018.
He stated that: “it undermines the powers of the Minister of Petroleum Resources.”
After reading the president’s letter, Dogara moved for adjournment stating that “we have to adjourn till March 12 to enable our colleagues participate in the governorship and state Assembly elections.”
