OrderPaperToday – The incumbent governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano has won Saturday’s governorship election.
Obiano who contested under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) defeated member of the House of Representatives, Tony Nwoye, who came second.
Oseloka Obaze of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) emerged third.
Note that Nwoye contested under the All Progressives Congress (APC) after he defeated Sen. Andy Uba in the party’s primaries.
Nwoye was the only federal lawmaker that participated in the governorship race after Uba and Sen. Stella Oduah (PDP, Anambra) lost out in the party primaries.
As announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, Obiano won in all the 21 local government areas of the state with a total of 234,071 votes.
The election held in 532 polling centres.
There were however, reports of ballot snatching, voter inducements which led to nullification of votes in some areas.
According to INEC, there were 2.16 million voters with Permanent Voter Cards for the election.
