OrderPaperToday – Mr. Rochas Okorocha (APC, Imo) has highlighted his agenda as the Senator representing Imo west senatorial district.
After taking oath of office, Okorocha in a press briefing on Thursday, promised to create an avenue that will foster a better relationship between the South-east and the other geopolitical zones of the country.
He said: “The bridge connecting the south-east to other ethnic groups seems to be very faulty resulting from the politics we have played in the south-east. It will be my pleasure to reconnect this bridge so that the south-east people will move along at the same pace with other geopolitical zones.”
His second mission to the National Assembly is on “the possibility of making free education a reality so that the children of the poor can go to school.”
He expressed concern over the killings and destruction of lives in the northern part of this country.
“Whatever we can do on the floor of the senate, we will have the executive curb this insurgency. I will be here and happy to work with my colleagues,” the Imo West Senator said.
He commended the judiciary for delivering a ruling for the release of his Certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
He said: “As to what happened before I became a senator, I want to thank specially, the judiciary for being the last hope of the common man or the oppressed. Without the judiciary, I would not have been here.”
He equally thanked INEC “for doing the right thing which goes a long way to say that all those accusations were unfounded of my person. I am very thankful to INEC for releasing my certificate of return and having me sworn in.”
