OrderPaperToday – The Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has expressed sorrow over the demise of the Omovudu of Udu Kingdom and former Member of the House of Representatives, Chief Austin Kpoviekpurhi Ogbaburhon.
Ogbaburhon who passed away on Thursday 25th June, 2020 served as Chairman of Okpe and Udu Local Government Areas, Chairman, Delta State Waste Management Board, Deputy Chairman, Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, Honourble member representing Udu, Ughelli North, Ughelli South Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives and Chairman, Nigeria Rubber Research Institute.
In a statement signed by Omo-Agege on Friday, he offered his deepest condolences to the deceased’s family, friends and the entire people of Udu.
Omo-Agege described him as “an outstanding public figure who put the interest of his country and people above himself” while serving “his country with deep commitment and for the welfare of the people throughout his long political career.”
The statement further reads: “High Tension, as he was popularly known, was my dear friend and the recollection of my interactions with him on various occasions have deepened my personal sense of loss and sadness.
“Undoubtedly, we have lost a wise and erudite leader whose empathy with the people made him a much loved community and political leader in Urhobo Nation. His demise is a great loss and he will be missed by all of us.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Ogbaburhon family and friends as well as the people of Udu at this time. May God grant them the strength and fortitude to face this enormous loss.”
