OrderPaperToday – Deputy chairman of the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee on COVID-19, Mr. Sam Onuigbo, has assured that legislative oversight will help streamline the nation’s covid-19 responses across board.
Onuigbo, who is the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency of Abia State, told OrderPaperNG in a chat that his appointment as the Deputy Chairman of the panel by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, is a call to service to improve the way Nigeria is responding to the pandemic.
Recall that the 18-man ad-hoc committee was inaugurated by the Speaker on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, Nigeria.
It is charged with the responsibility of coordinating Nigeria’s legislative response to the Coronavirus pandemic by interfacing with the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), the private sector, and Civil Society Organizations, in executing Nigeria’s multi-pronged approach towards addressing the pandemic.
Mr. Onuigbo, commended the Speaker for exercising leadership at this very critical time in the nation’s history and assured him that the committee will “work assiduously in a collaborative and coordinated manner, in the delivery of its duties to the people of Nigeria.”
