OrderPaperToday – Speakership aspirant for the ninth assembly, Mrs. Nkiruka Onyejeocha (Abia, APC), has denied media reports that she has quit the race.
The lawmaker, who is chair person, House of Representatives committee on Aviation, described the reports as false aimed at destabilizing her swelling camp.
According to her, “you can see things for yourselves now, I’m still very much in the race, that rumour is the handiwork of my detractors who see me as a threat to their ambition because of my rising profile in the contest.”
She said she cannot be a stooge to anybody because “I am in the race independently to win with the support of my colleagues from all the six geo-political zones of the country.
“My legislative experience speaks volumes, I will be representing my constituency for the fourth time, chairperson of sensitive committee of Aviation that played roles in the modernization of the nation’s airports, l have been participating actively in other committee and many others.”
Speaking on the endorsement of Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and by some groups and individuals, Onyejeocha said that she was not worried about the amount of endorsements of other aspirants in the media.
Meanwhile the fourth time female lawmaker has commended the House of Representatives for the passage of the bill for the amendment of the Federal Character Commission, to give married women the option of indigeneship, saying women deserved the right to contest elective offices where ever they are.
