OrderPaperToday – Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Mr. Benjamin Kalu (APC, Abia), and some leaders in civil society would be featured in the second edition of the Online Parliamentary Engagement Nigeria (OPEN) convened by OrderPaper, Nigeria’s people-parliament multi-platform interface.

A lot has changed since the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria and the rest of the world as the fear of contracting the disease, which has no cure yet, has thrown up different dimensions on how government, corporate organizations and individuals are conducting their affairs.
It is on this basis that OrderPaper Nigeria designed the Online Parliamentary Engagement Nigeria (OPEN) is a platform for virtual conversations between lawmakers, civil society actors, and professionals to increase citizen participation in legislative business.
According to Oke Epia, Executive Director of OrderPaper Nigeria, “the OPEN initiative is to allow increased citizen engagement with the legislative arm of government with regards especially to the consideration and passage of bills and constituency interfaces,” adding:
“The OPEN series has found a vital usefulness in filling the gap of citizen engagement that in the COVID-19 era where parliaments across the world are struggling to keep their doors open for business with the consequence of closing spaces for public engagements becoming an inevitable corollary.”
Recall that the first webinar in the OPEN series held on May 18, 2020 on Zoom and it featured Mr. Akin Alabi, Chairman, Committee on Inter Governmental Affairs of the House of Representatives; and Ms. Nimah Arigbabu, a Public Policy Expert.
The 2nd OPEN meet-up, which will also be streamed live on OrderPaper’s verified Facebook page, is already for registration and prospective participants are required to register here.
