PDP rejects presidential election results amidst collation & counting

OrderPaperToday – With results from some states already announced showing the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) leading in the presidential race, the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the figures announced thus far.

The opposition party accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of conniving with the ruling party to announce result contrary to its own figures.

The party also called for the unconditional release of one of the spokespersons of its presidential campaign organization, Mr. Buba Galadima.

This is according to a statement by the Chairman of the Party, Uche Secondus, released on Monday.

According to Secondus, the election result process currently ongoing at the INEC national collation center is at variance with the figures from its agents across the country.

The opposition party also accused the ruling party and INEC of systemically disenfranchising it’s supporters through “cancellation and manipulation of figures for results already announced at polling units, nationwide, in Local Government Areas (LGAs) where our party, the PDP, had commanding votes; this must now be resisted by every well meaning Nigerian.”

The party added that “the APC in collusion with INEC have taken aggressive steps, mostly through inducements, manipulation and incarcerations, using the elements of state power including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army in particular, alongside other organizations including the Department of State Security (DSS) and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to silence the voices of our long suffering people; this is disheartening, considering the terms of the Peace Accord, which called for impartiality and non-partisanship by members of our security organization with constitutional roles to play during this civic exercise.”

Although the party provided no proof, Mr. Secondus alleged that INEC IT server was hacked by the APC, and consequently tampered with the figures.

Although no security agency has owned up the arrest of Buba, the party chairman demanded for his immediate release.

The declaration of the results is still ongoing at the time of filing this report
