Mr. Thomas Arnold Pearce and Mr. Hendrik Gideon Smith, both from South Africa, were reportedly abducted in Maidaro village while carrying out mining activities.
Their abductors later took them to the Birnin Gwari forest located in Kaduna state.
According to Mr. Jimoh Moshood, the Force Public Relations officer (PRO), the victims were rescued at 3am on Saturday morning, following intense pressure on the kidnappers by the IRT, Police Air wing helicopter patrol and Kaduna State Command Police.
The source said the victims were taken to Abuja after their rescue and were handed over to the South African Embassy and their Company representatives by 7am, for medicals and other immediate needs.
An undisclosed source added that “the victims are in good health condition and they have given useful information to the Police that will help in their investigation.”
