OrderPaperToday – The Academic Forum of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria has advised Nigerians not to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari because the party has failed to leave up to its campaign promises made in 2015.
The group also accused Mr. President and the National Security Adviser (NSA) of being tyrannical for illegally holding in detention its leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky despite the High and Appeal Court judgment in Kaduna which has asked that he be granted bail.
The movement also warned the general public to disregard the false alarm being raised against Shiites through the NSA office that they were planning to coordinate attacks on detention facilities across the country.
The following statements were made today by Mr. Abdullahi Musa, during a press briefing that held in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory.
According to him, “our attention has been drawn to a letter written to the Inspector General of Police by Sanusi M. Galadima, msi, a director at the office of the National Security Adviser titled ‘plans by the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) to raid selected detention facilities in the country during the 2019 general election’ meant to forcefully effect the release of their national leader Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, his wife and several members of the sect currently in custody”
“I will like to state that we have no plan to raid any detention facility and we always follow lawful means to secure the release of our brothers and sisters that are under detention. The public will recall that on August 8, 2018 we received a report from unidentified security agent, who exposed a plan by the Department of State Services (DSS) to use hoodlums to kill Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife in the facility they are being detained. According to the report, the hoodlums will attack and kill him and all the security agents escorting him in court or hospital.
“I will like to inform the general public that the plan of attacking detention facilities is direct plan of tyrant Buhari-led administration and his NSA, Mr. Mohammed Monguno and his security agents.
“It is pertinent to state that for more than forty years now, followers of El-Zakzaky are being detained but we always implore lawful means to secure their releases. In our leader’s case we have also employed the services of Femi Falana, SAN to pursue his release. However, we are determined to continue with our protest demanding for unconditional release of Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and his wife Zainab Ibraheem”.
