OrderPaperToday- A member of the House of Representatives, Mr Akin Alabi (Ona Ara/Egbeda Federal Constituency of Oyo State) has condemned the rearrest of Omoyele Sowere by the Department of State Service (DSS).
Sowere, a former presidential candidate of African Action Congress at the last presidential election, is facing treasonable felony charges following his convening of a “revolution now” protest.
After an extended stay in its custody, Sowore had been released on Thursday following a court order compelling the DSS to do so, but according to media reports, was rearrested by operatives of the same agency while leaving the court room.
Alabi, who is a member of the ruling APC, said the move by DSS is a “desecration of the judiciary.”
“The DSS will have to explain why Sowore was rearrested. And the reason has to be HUGE. We just debated on the floor yesterday about separation of powers but this is a desecration of the judiciary. No matter whose side you are on, this cannot be right in anyway,” he tweeted.
