OrderPaperToday – Member representing Ogbadibo/Ado/Ogbokwu federal constituency of Benue State in the House of Representatives, Mr. Francis Uttah Agbo, has commended the Speaker, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, for ‘his exemplary leadership style.’
Agbo specifically commended Gbajabiamila for his prompt intervention to avert the suspension of one of the members from Benue, Mark Gbillah who represents Gwer West/Gwer East federal constituency and was accused of breach of the previleges of lawmakers through interviews granted to the press at different fora.
Speaking to journalists during the week, Mr. Agbo said he was pleased with the peace and harmony enjoyed by all members irrespective of political affiliation under the leadership of Femi Gbajabiamila, the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Idris Wase, and the Minority Leader, Mr. Ndudi Elumelu.
“I’m calling on our great party to rescind their decision on Ndudi Elumelu and six others and we are hopeful that they would yield to this call. We like our party and we are ready to work with them even as 2023 approaches,” he quipped, adding:
“I want to also use this opportunity to thank Ndudi Elumelu and our Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila and his Deputy Wase because they are steering the ship very well. You can see what happened yesterday (Tuesday) in the case of our brother Mark Gbillah, he tampered justice with mercy. So that is the kind of leadership we are craving for and we want more of that. I will like to thank the honourable members of the ninth assembly for comporting themselves very well.”
He further appealed to the people of Benue State to be patient with the current national assembly members, that in no time they would begin to deliver on their responsibilities as lawmakers
“You know the national assembly is like a football pitch whereby all other ethnic groups, constituencies and senatorial district send in their people to come and represent them. Benue has sent their best eleven to come to the national assembly and you can see that we are already playing the ball and we are scoring goals.
“The people of Benue should be patient before the end of the year they would start seeing concrete developmental
deliverables from our people (lawmakers) within the ambit of our responsibilities. We are going to make laws for the good governance of this country and we have make laws that would promote Benue people, because I have to be a good Benue man before I can be a good Nigerian and we are united in this.
“For me as an individual I intend to bring to the front burner Ukpa Coal- there’s a large coal deposit in Ukpa. There’s also a large lime deposit in Ado. In the last 15 to 20 years there have been commentaries about a cement factory in Ukpa but we don’t know what is happening with it but I intend to carry out investigation to ascertain whether the contract was awarded or not. I have several bills in the pipeline and one of which is the electoral amendment bill so as to reduce the number of electoral cases in our courts.”
