OrderPaperToday – The House of Representatives has passed into second reading a bill to tackle the issues affecting youths in Nigeria.
The bill, which is jointly sponsored by Messrs Simon Kari, Umar Muda and another lawmaker, prayed the House to establish the “National Youth Development Commission aimed at creating and promoting coordination of youth development in Nigeria and for other related matters.”
The bill has been referred to the Committee on Youth Development for further legislative inputs.
The Youth Development Commission bill according to the sponsors would provide solutions to the myriads of challenges confronting Nigerian youths.
Mr. Kari, who led the debate on the bill during plenary on Wednesday, said the rising restiveness and related issues among Nigerian youths, particularly in the north and other parts of the country, calls for concern
According to him, “the bill will tackle youth restiveness in terms of provisions of gainful employment for the youth, grant them soft loans, among other palliatives,”
“The bill will cure a lot of menace. It will tackle the issues of Boko Haram, militancy, prostitution and kidnapping presently ravaging our land,” he said
