OrderPaperToday – The House of Representatives on Thursday granted the request of President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint fifteen (15) Special Advisers in accordance with the provisions of Section 151 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
Similarly, the House resolved to transmit the approval to the Senate for concurrence.
The resolution followed a motion sponsored by Leader of the House Mr. Alhassan Ado-Doguwa (APC Kano) on the “Appointment of Special Advisers to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”
Presenting the motion, the House Leader Ado-Doguwa said Section 151 (1) of the Constitution of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), gave the President the power to appoint any person as a Special Adviser to assist him in the performance of his functions;
He said that the President had in a message on 9 July, 2019 to the House of Representatives requested for the approval of the House to appoint fifteen (15) Special Advisers;
The motion was passed after the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Idris Mohammed Wase, put the question.
